Description
NET-CBRN-REACT aims for better and faster disaster risk management in Eastern Europe and the Middle East through strengthening the effectiveness and efficiency of collective civil protection and disaster management efforts within the Union Civil Protection Mechanism.
The project will apply scenario-based approaches to disaster risks that are common in Eastern Europe and the Middle East and will involve civil protection and disaster risk management actors from different thematic areas. It will provide new training and exercise opportunities and an online network of experts, to enhance the Knowledge Network. Two international workshops, in Lviv, Ukraine, and in Warsaw, Poland, will enhance cooperation in disaster response among civil protection, disaster management, marine pollution, humanitarian actors and international organisations.
The project will contribute to the implementation of the UN Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction by providing a better understanding of disaster risks in regions of Eastern Europe and the Middle East, and to a disaster risk-informed approach to EU emergency management and other relevant policies. NET-CBRN-REACT was developed by a academia, industry and civil society beneficiaries from Germany, Jordan, Lithuania, Moldova, Ukraine and Poland, as well as international agencies, including the Council of Baltic Sea States and partners from Latvia, UN OCHA, WHO, and the OPCW.
