Description
SUNSHINE is an EU-funded project coordinated by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Defence Industry and Space (DG DEFIS). It aims to strengthen disaster resilience across Europe by facilitating the uptake of EU Space Programme data and services - such as Copernicus EMS, Galileo EWSS, SSA, and GOVSATCOM - within civil protection frameworks, supporting the objectives of the Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM).
As part of its capacity-building activities, the SUNSHINE project is organising a full-day online technical webinar on 4 June 2026, from 09:30 to 17:00 CET. The webinar will combine project-level context with hands-on technical training sessions, providing participants with concrete guidance on how to access and use EU Space services for disaster preparedness, early warning, response, and recovery.
This technical webinar will focus on the use of Copernicus Emergency Management Service (CEMS) On-Demand Mapping products in the context of floods and wildfires. It will cover the full mapping portfolio, including products relevant for the preparedness, emergency response, and recovery phases.
The webinar will also provide dedicated sessions on the European Forest Fire Information System (EFFIS) and the European Flood Awareness System (EFAS), highlighting their role, products, and workflows in supporting wildfire- and flood-related risk analysis and forecasting activities.
Throughout the day, the webinar will adopt an interactive format. Training sessions will include demonstrations, real-time screen sharing of operational portals, quizzes, and guided exercises, allowing participants to familiarise themselves with data access procedures. Dedicated Q&A moments will enable direct interaction with experts and trainers.
The full agenda for the webinar will be released soon. It will be available on this page.
