Summary

This article focuses on the preparedness of German emergency departments for incidents involving chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) hazards. It presents the results of a survey conducted among heads of emergency departments in Germany, using the joint emergency department registry of the German Interdisciplinary Association for Intensive and Emergency Medicine and the German Society for Interdisciplinary Emergency and Acute Medicine, to assess current structures, resources and readiness for managing CBRN-related events.
