The Empower-Citizens project has released its first video, introducing the project’s mission and impact!
The Project aims to develop and test a procedure for integrating citizens’ feedback and lessons learned during disasters, exercises, and simulations into preparedness plans. The first-hand experience, tacit knowledge, and skills gained by citizens in these situations are highly valuable. Through their unique perspective, citizens can provide insights and feedback that complement the work of professional actors key during disaster management, representing an important asset for managing future emergencies.
To achieve this objective, Empower Citizens will revise, adapt, and integrate existing practices for collecting, selecting, and aggregating feedback from citizens, communities, and civil society organisations. These practices will be merged into a unified procedure for revising and improving preparedness plans, called “Citizen & Authority Learning and Improving Preparedness Plans (CLIPP).”
The procedure will be tested in Italy and Norway, with a scaling-up strategy in Romania to expand its application at the European level. The project’s outcomes will be consolidated into practical guidelines and support tools to help communities and authorities better prepare for future events.
The new video is a great introduction for anyone interested in how citizens can actively contribute to safer and more resilient communities!
