Description

To mark the mid-term meeting of the RED ROSES project, coordinated by the French Red Cross since March 2023, a special event is being organised by the consortium and with the generous support of the City of Nice. On March 6, 2024, the “Transborder Regional Day: Meeting Engaged Stakeholders for Natural Risk Reduction” will take place in Nice, at the premises of the Mediterranean University Center.

  • What is the RED ROSES project?

Since March 2023, the RED ROSES project aims to enhance prevention and preparedness for disasters in the cross-border area between France and Italy, focusing on major natural hazards such as floods, landslides, and forest fires.

RED ROSES is a bold initiative designed to develop and test a cross-border decision support tool and information-sharing platform, composed of a Geoportal and a Decision Support System (DSS). A simulation exercise is also planned for the coming fall.

  • Transborder Regional Day: What to expect?

The event will be a unique opportunity to present the RED ROSES project and its themes, to address preparation and cross-border cooperation issues, and to enhance collaboration among stakeholders committed to natural risk reduction.

Numerous cross-border stakeholders will convene during this day, highlighting the collaborative and international nature of the event. We are honoured to welcome, among others, Mr. Philippe Da Costa, President of the French Red Cross, and HSH Prince Albert II in his capacity as President of the Monaco Red Cross, adding prestige to this day of exchange and sharing.

The morning will kick off with plenary sessions, presenting the strategy of the French Red Cross in crisis preparedness, highlighting volunteer engagement, and showcasing innovative initiatives, including the RED ROSES project genesis and objectives.

The afternoon will be dedicated to participatory workshops, providing a unique opportunity for participants to explore specific themes such as the importance of data in natural hazards prevention, to discuss operational issues related to the simulation exercise, and actively contribute to the collaborative approach of RED ROSES.
