08-Training The End Users and Evaluation

This is the point where the team is geared towards conducting a comprehensive training for the end users on the main findings of the project such as the updated Decision Support System (DSS) tool and the innovative algorithm of detecting floating containers using satellites. The Purpose of the training is to acquaint the end users with the project’s added value (DSS) and floating container detector to enhance user friendliness and efficiency. The end users will comprise mainly the personnel; Port of Tripoli, Port of Aqaba, Port of Genoa, and relevant stakeholders.

The training will be based on the project results obtained from the previous different Tasks. The task will be developed on the following steps:

  1. definition of the contents: the course will cover a wide range of topics regarding marine and air pollution due to oil and HNS spills and the relative response actions.
  2. definition of the objective: to achieve efficient training and enhance the ability to use the DSS tool with a maximum output
  3. definition of the course structures: learning module, evaluation methods, timing
  4. definition of the tools: documents, images, videos, animations, and simulations The training will transfer operational capacities to the attendees. At the end of the course, the operator is expected to know how to run the DSS tool with sufficient confidence and to be ready to apply the operational tool.

In conclusion, Task-08 is reserved for the training of end users and evaluation on the Decision Support System (DSS) and the algorithm of floating container loss detecting systems using satellites. The purpose of the training is to enhance the understanding of the end users on the updated DSS and the innovative floating containers detector algorithm. The procedure of the training will involve; defining the contents, objective, course structure, and required tools needed. At the end of the course, the operator is expected to know how to run the DSS tool with sufficient confidence and to be ready to apply the operational tool.
