Flood

Scenario

In October 2023, a severe storm affected whole Czech Republic. In several regions of the country local floods were reported. The most affected is the eastern part of the country (Moravian-Silesian Region – MSR) near the border with Poland. It has been reported unusual and abnormal intensity of rainfall in the MSR triggered landslides and severe flooding. According to weather forecasts, the level of rivers, lakes, dams etc.in MSR is stationary at a very high level. There is a huge risk of flooding several cities. Main roads in region have to maintain rideable/open due to the ongoing evacuation of the population in MSR.

EU Assistance was requested through UCPM, following the consequences of the weather conditions. Participating modules from six countries will put their skills to jointly cooperate in a scenario of significant water-related incidents, in an EU nation. The accepted modules arrived on 17th of October, in the morning.
