New publication highlights key prevention and preparedness projects
As new Calls for Proposals open, this brochure highlights UCPM projects which have helped to build capacity and knowledge for a more resilient Europe.
Two information days take place this week, following the publication of the Knowledge for Prevention and Preparedness (KAPP) and Technical Assistance for Disaster Risk Management (Track 1) calls for proposals in January. The events are designed to familiarise applicants with the application process and provide guidance on the preparation of their proposals.
In parallel, DG ECHO has just published a new brochure which sets out examples of good practice from 34 of the most representative UCPM prevention and preparedness projects of recent years. These projects cover a wide variety of hazards and represent a range of countries. One thing they all have in common is their potential for adaptability and replication.
By sharing strong examples of successful projects in one place, DG ECHO aims to provide stakeholders with ideas for future projects, facilitate information exchange and encourage future collaboration.
From 2020 to 2023, we have proudly allocated funding to a total of 106 projects, amounting to more than EUR 55.8 million in co-financing and more than EUR 63.2 million through the overall projects budget. These initiatives have directly benefitted 48 countries, including not only EU Member States and other participating states in the UCPM, but also Neighbourhood countries, fostering a collective approach to mitigating a diverse array of hazards.
