The Armenian Red Cross Society conducted Psychological First Aid (PFA) training for the ARCS staff and volunteers, also for teachers from different regions, borderline areas included. The training is designed to equip participants with the practical skills and knowledge necessary to provide immediate support to individuals experiencing psychological distress. This training aims to prepare participants to offer empathetic, informed, and effective assistance in and after crisis situations.
The PFA training program is structured into two primary components: theoretical and practical. In the theoretical segment, participants receive comprehensive instruction on psychological first aid, including necessary actions, techniques to enhance empathetic skills, emotional intelligence, and communication abilities. This segment also encompasses psychoeducation, providing participants with a deeper understanding of psychological principles and practices. The practical segment emphasizes the application of theoretical knowledge through role-playing scenarios and practical exercises, designed to reinforce and strengthen the skills acquired. This hands-on approach ensures participants are well-prepared to effectively implement psychological first aid in real-world situations. Participants engaged in discussions, role-play activities, and case studies, allowing them to practice supportive behaviors, active listening, and calming techniques. The program also highlighted the importance of self-care for PFA providers developing personal self-care plans to manage stress and emotional impact.
So far the feedback from the participants were positive with the request to have different psychological training sessions on regular basis
