Croatian Crisis Management Association
Crisis management (management in crisis situations) encompasses a wide field of management of various forms of risk and at its core is the reduction of the negative consequences of crisis and disaster. Uncertainty and the limited knowledge as features that surround threats, as well as the limited ability of further forecasting such events leads to the fact that the safety aspects are usually not seen as a threat but interpreted as a risk. With the increase in the development of the society we must highlight the interdependence and dynamic environment that is resulting in increasing complexity of calculating incidence and impact which methodologically leads to a transition from risk to the function of vulnerability. The implementation of effective risk management and of the reduction of vulnerability requires a thorough understanding of the dynamics and nature of risks and vulnerabilities, as well as the resistance of the community. Therefore, crisis management is based on the gained knowledge, experiential knowledge always through further developed and research.
Croatian Crisis Management Association was established in 2003. To date, the Association acts as a place to exchange knowledge and whose members are in larger extent current and former students of undergraduate program Management in crisis situations and specialized professional studies Crisis management coming from the Polytechnic Velika Gorica and of other professionals associated with the system.
The aim of the Association is to encourage, promote, facilitate and develop the system of crisis management, the activities of protection and rescue, the principles of leadership and command and to provide assistance in disasters and other areas of protection and rescue that require urgent and immediate intervention.
