Federal Ministry of the Interior and Community

Overview

Description

The Federal Ministry of the Interior and Community and its executive agencies cover a broad range of tasks and activities, extending from civil protection, integration and sport funding to security. The many fields of activity make clear that domestic policy touches on all areas of society.

The Federal Ministry of the Interior and Community has a differentiated structure. It has offices in Berlin and Bonn and oversees a variety of executive agencies. Berlin has been its primary location since 12 July 1999.

The head of the Federal Ministry of the Interior and Community is the minister; next in line are the parliamentary state secretaries and the state secretaries with civil servant status. The ministry is organised according to directorates-general and divisions: each directorate-general has several divisions working on different aspects of the same general area.
