Description

We ensure protection and safety! - Fire brigade, rescue service and civil protection of the city of Dortmund

We – that is around 2,200 full-time and volunteer firefighters – ensure the safety of the Dortmund population around the clock. More than 150,000 operations a year mean an alarm about every four minutes on the nine fire and rescue stations of the professional fire brigade, the 21 units of the volunteer fire brigade or the eleven rescue stations and seven emergency doctor locations in Dortmund.

Our goal is to help every person or animal in an emergency situation as quickly as possible, to avert environmental hazards and to protect property. For this purpose, we provide state-of-the-art technology, our employees are qualified in a well-founded training and always remain up to date through constant training and further education.

Our prevention work is also of great importance. Whether fire safety education for children or statements in the building permit procedure – we are already active before it gets dicey.

The Dortmund Fire Brigade is managed as part of the city administration (Department 37) by the Director of the Fire Brigade, Dipl.-Ing. Dirk Aschenbrenner, who is supported as permanent representative Ltd. städt. Branddirektor, Dipl.-Ing. Detlev Harries.
