Description
The IPTL is an educational and training establishment, established in 2007, starting its activity in the school year 2008/2009, contributing to the increase and improvement of the offer of educational and training pathcourses meeting the needs of the market and ensuring the modernization of Madeiran society.
With the nature of an institution of a private nature, pursuing purposes of public interest and developing its cultural, scientific, technological and pedagogical activities on the tutelage of the Regional Secretariat of Education, Science and Technology and certification of the Institute for Qualification, IP-RAM.
Renewing practices and pedagogical models of professional education, integrating components of specialized training that allows entry into active life or the continuation of studies at the higher level is one of the goals of the IPTL.
The IPTL is also empowered, within the framework of the protocol concluded with the Directorate-General for Natural Resources, Safety and Maritime Services (DGRM), for training for the navy of trade and fisheries, recreational boating and the STCW Convention (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers).
Over the years, IPTL has managed to be the reference institution in maritime training. In this context, and aiming at the beginning or career progression, complying with the demanding requirements that the professional paths of the Commercial Navy (which includes local traffic) and Fisheries impose, the various formations have allowed a bond of proximity between employers, students and Institute.
