Description

This project aims to increase public preparedness for disasters and improve the effectiveness of the Civil Protection and Marine Pollution Prevention mechanisms in Lithuania. Utilising innovative solutions, the project will develop an emergency management mobile application (LT72), and engage in outreach activities targeting various demographics.

The LT72 mobile app, developed by the Fire and Rescue Department under the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania, is an innovative tool for providing timely alerts, valuable disaster prevention information, and instructions in the case of emergency situations. The project will enhance disaster response coordination and improve communication between emergency responders and the public.

Public outreach activities, overseen by the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania, will include awareness-raising seminars and targeted media campaigns across popular social media platforms, TV channels, public transport, and regional press. Through these activities, the project aims to strengthen the resilience of communities in Lithuania, enhance disaster preparedness awareness, and ensure a higher level of understanding of the LT72 mobile app.

By offering tailored training to community-based organisation leaders, the project will foster a culture of shared responsibility and active citizenship in disaster management. These leaders will play a crucial role in disseminating knowledge and best practices in their communities, further extending the project's impact.

In alignment with the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM), the project seeks to enhance transnational cooperation and mutual trust among UCPM participating states and eligible countries. The LT72 mobile app could be scaled and adapted by other countries to bolster their own emergency response mechanisms, promoting European solidarity in disaster management.
