Description
The Ready to Respond project was designed to improve the level of preparedness of civil protection systems in Armenia and Georgia, which are prone to both natural and manmade disasters. It helps by enhancing cooperation between civil protection and humanitarian aid actors and increase and diversify the preparedness and response capacities of key actors. The project concentrates its efforts on management and coordination, interoperability, experience exchange and coordination between civil protection actors, capacity building within cash transfer programming, volunteering in emergencies, and mental health and psychosocial support in emergencies.
Preparedness will be tested through emergency exercises and simulations. These will ensure the needs of volunteers and disaster-affected people are met in a timely manner, disaster response teams are engaged efficiently and that the Georgia Red Cross and Armenia Red Cross are more reliable and knowledgeable partners of the region’s Union Civil Protection Mechanism.
