PROMPT Technical Meeting for Technical Activities in Spain
As prescribed in the proposal of the PROMPT project, technical meetings were planned to be held
among the project partners to share the project updates, solve possible difficulties, and organize
the project activities. In this regard, during the days of 18th and 19th September, a technical meeting
was held in Santander. The event consisted of meetings in which the core concept of the project
and the activities done so far by partners were presented to the consortium and relevant stakeholders.
On the first day, a technical meeting between the partners of the consortium was held at IHCantabria facilities led by Dr. Ana Julia Abascal (FIHAC) in which the coordinator UNIGE addressed PROMPT administrative and general issues and all of the partners presented their progress and advances, plus the next steps, regarding their activities in the project. The meeting was attended in person by FIHAC, UNIGE, WASDI, OEPT, and JUA, and remotely by PM_TEN. It lasted for 5 hours and a half, from 9:00 CET to 14:30 CET.
After the technical meeting at IHCantabria facilities, the members of the consortium did an hour
visit to Santander Harbor by boat from 15:00 CET to 16:00 CET. The purpose of the trip was to show
the harbor and the Port of Santander from the sea. During the trip, the attendees were accompanied
by a tour guide who gave explanations about the places visited while on board.
A project dinner was organized to end the activities of DAY-1 of the Santander technical meeting.
The second day of the meeting was focused on meeting relevant stakeholders and it was structured
into two activities:
• Presentation of PROMPT Project at Port of Santander
• Visit to Port of Santander facilities
The overall objective of the event was to enhance the visibility of the PROMPT project and to interact with invited stakeholders. The meeting was held at Port of Santander facilities. Along with the members of the PROMPT consortium, the stakeholders attending the meeting were Salvamento Marítimo (SASEMAR- Spanish Search and Rescue Agency), Autoridad Portuaria de Santander (Santander Port Authority), Capitanía Marítima (Maritime Authority) and Civil Protection/Government of Cantabria. It lasted for 2 hours, from 9:00 CET to 11:00 CET.
After the meeting at Port of Santander facilities, a two-hour visit to Port facilities took place during which the main terminals were visited. The purpose of the trip was to learn more about the functionalities of the Port of Santander. During the trip, the attendees were accompanied by a tour guide who gave explanations about the activity of the Port. The visit lasted from 11:00 CET to 13:00 CET.
The meeting ended with a closing remark from Dr. Ana Julia Abascal (FIHAC) thanking all for
coming to the meeting and praising their advances in the PROMPT project.
