According to data from the Meteorological Service and IGJEO, heavy rainfall is expected to continue, increasing the water levels of the Drin, Buna, Kir rivers, and Lake Shkodra, raising the risk of flooding.
A similar situation is expected for the Mat, Ishëm, Erzen, and Shkumbin rivers, which will reach peak levels soon.
The Seman and Vjosa rivers remain risky, though only local flooding is anticipated.
Rising temperatures will also cause snowmelt, contributing to increased water flow. This may result in urban flooding and landslides across several regions.
The National Civil Protection Agency and the Ministry of Defense are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with local and central structures to ensure readiness. Operational forces are fully equipped and on standby.
Citizens, especially in the Shkodra area, are urged to stay alert and cooperate with authorities.

Other regions will experience intensive rainfall, while in Elbasan, Vlorë, and Gjirokastër, localized very intense rainfall is anticipated. The rain will be accompanied by thunderstorms (as shown in the table, respectively for each district).

The Council of Ministers decided on April 8 to declare the state of natural disaster in the Shkodra region, and the Prime Minister called for the rapid evacuation of the affected population, as river flow reached maximum levels, causing massive flooding in the region.A total of 25 000 people are reported to have been affected, with a number of 27 fatalities and 430 injured. Nearly 2,000 people are left homeless due to damaged buildings, while 500 people are considered missing.
All operational forces under the coordination of the National Civil Protection Agency are currently engaged in the field for the evacuation of the population and livestock.
The situation is under constant monitoring, while all local and central operational forces are on standby in the field for all eventualities.
