Start of new courses for civil protection and disaster management experts
UCPM Training Programme - The new courses for civil protection and disaster management stakeholders have started!
The new UCPM Training Programme courses for civil protection and disaster management stakeholders (also called “non-deployable”) kick off with the first Mechanism Introduction Course for National Authorities UCPM Contact Points (NCP) in Brussels, Belgium from 19 to 21 September.
The objective of the NCP course of the UCPM Training Programme, is to raise awareness and increase knowledge about the UCPM and its functioning, with the main focus to increase abilities of Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM) contact points to interact with the Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC) and use the UCPM tools and procedures.
It is organised by a consortium of 8 national civil protection authorities, led by the Belgian Directorate-General for Civil Protection.
Finally, a course for the ones who always stay in the shadow, but without whom no UCPM assistance could reach people in need! National Contact Points are the spark, leading to solidarity between countries and people. I am very happy that, together with the colleagues of the ERCC, we can contribute to supporting them in their difficult task.
The UCPM Training Programme offers tailored training pathways, aiming at preparing all UCPM stakeholders to perform their role when the Mechanism is activated.
While the "deployable" pathway leads to participants qualifying for deployment under the UCPM, the "non-deployable" track targets civil protection personnel from Member and Participating States who play a role in European civil protection in their country.
Specialised training opportunities and free online modules are also available to interested stakeholders.
