Description

ROADMAP’s main objective is to establish a European ‘doctrine on disaster risk and crisis management’ based on cooperation between the scientific community and disaster risk management authorities.

The doctrine, which is intended as ‘a shared understanding of disaster management between decision-makers and scientific actors’, is built on selected experiences, good practices and implemented solutions in EU Member States.

ROADMAP has also established a European observatory on disaster risk and crisis management good practices that complements the Union Civil Protection Knowledge Network’s ambitions.

The project provides up-to-date information on good practices and solutions in European disaster risk management. Its thematic papers and bulletins raise awareness around issues relating to the area. Published on the ‘news’ section of the website, they also feed the ‘Solutions Explorer’, an online tool developed by the project allowing users to browse good practices and solutions. An advisory group formed by both science and decision-making international experts in disaster risk management was constituted in April 2021. The ROADMAP Advisory Group discusses challenging issues related to good practices and provides a solid basis for the development of the content of the thematic papers, webinars and the doctrine.
