Description
Organised by the International Institute of Humanitarian Law (IIHL), in collaboration with the IFRC Disaster Law and the Italian Red Cross, the 10th edition of this specialised course offers a comprehensive overview of international legal and institutional frameworks for disaster governance.
The course is designed for civil protection officers, humanitarian and legal professionals, Red Cross and Red Crescent staff, and graduate students interested in disaster law and management.
Structure:
Participants can choose between:
- Online foundation training (3–17 October): live and self-paced sessions on international disaster law, human rights, IHL, and disaster response.
- Full hybrid course (3–30 October): includes the online component, a self-paced module on EU basics (20–24 October), and a 4-day in-person workshop in Sanremo (27–30 October) focusing on EU disaster law, with contributions from DG ECHO, JRC, and the Red Cross EU Office.
