The 8th edition of the International Wildland Fire Conference will take place in Porto, Portugal, on 16-19 May 2023.
The main objective of the 8th IWFC is to create space for presentation of current results of work in the field of wildland fire. The conference is also a space for creating collaborative links between professionals, academics, industry and public authorities aiming at long-term sharing of knowledge and discussions of highly current issues.
With the 1st International Wildland Fire Conference (IWFC) held in Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A., in 1989, a series of conferences was initiated aimed at promoting exchange of expertise and international cooperation in wildland fire management. These conferences have gathered thousands of participants around the world and are overseen by The International Liaison Committee (ILC), serving as an advisory and liaison body to the hosts of the conferences. The ILC recognizes that landscape fire management is an international issue, thus working closely with conference hosts and seeking new opportunities for sharing experiences in this area of knowledge.
There will be two major themes, with several sub-topics. Themes will mainly concern Integrated Fire Management and Fire Risk Governance.
Please note that the organisers charge registration fees, which will include: admission to all Conference sessions & Exhibition; official attendance certificate; conference bag containing conference information package; welcome cocktail; coffee breaks and lunches according to the scheduled program.
