Description
The overall objective of the workshop is to strengthen discussion about the role of the UCPM within the broader risk management architecture at EU level.
The workshop will examine some of the existing mechanisms, tools and stakeholders that are part of the UCPM and its role and look at how these elements can work together in an effective way.
Context
The Commission together with the cooperation of the Member States created the Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM) in 2001. Since its creation, the main objective of the UCPM is to provide assistance to those countries affected by disasters.
The Belgian presidency programme will set out the priorities of the Belgian presidency of the Council of the EU. The Belgian term takes place from 1 January to 30 June 2024.
