DBX EU MODEX on Marine Pollution Conference
The DBX EU MODEX on Marine Pollution Conference took place on 2 March 2023.
The DBX EU MODEX on Marine Pollution concluded with an interactive conference on 2 March 2023. It followed three days of fruitful discussions on improving cooperation in marine pollution preparedness and response between authorities and stakeholders from 14 EU Member and Participating States of the UCPM directly involved in the marine incident management.
In the first part of the conference, the participants of the DBX EU MODEX presented the outcomes of their discussions, which focused on the four phases ‘Alert’, ‘Rescue’, ‘Environmental Impact’ and ‘Long-term Impact’. Two case study presentations on the response to real emergencies (Costa Concordia, Agia Zoni II) related to the learnings of the DBX EU MODEX.
The afternoon of the DBX EU MODEX Conference was dedicated to the presentation of new developments and their impact on marine incident response, including presentations of EMSA, LAMOR and the EU projects IMAROS and EUROWA. Another presentation focused on VR simulations for marine incident trainings. Moderated discussions and questions from the audience (present in the plenary or attending online) followed each session of the conference.
