Developing Early Warning Systems (EWS) for Climate Resilience
With rising climate risks, EWS are vital. This EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change event explores solutions for stronger preparedness.
Developing effective Early Warning Systems (EWS) is becoming essential as Europe experiences more frequent and severe climate hazards, from heavy rainfall and flooding to prolonged heatwaves. Strengthening society’s ability to anticipate these risks and act early is a key pillar of climate resilience.
This online session, “Developing Early Warning Systems for Climate Resilience,” will explore practical approaches to designing and implementing EWS that protect communities and support informed, timely decision-making. Speakers will present strategies, tools and governance models that help translate risk knowledge into early action.
Participants will hear from local and regional actors who will share hands-on experiences and lessons learned from applying early warning systems to different climate threats. The event will offer actionable insights on adapting EWS to regional contexts and improving preparedness across Europe.
