Description

The “Disaster Resilience Days” is a three-day European forum bringing together researchers,
policymakers, public authorities, first responders, critical infrastructure operators, security
actors, industry, and innovators to strengthen disaster resilience and crisis preparedness through
research, innovation and cooperation. Organised within the framework of the CERIS
(Community for European Research and Innovation for Security) by the European Commission
and the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior, for Sport and Integration and partner
institutions, the event provides a platform for connecting European research and innovation with
operational needs, policy priorities and emerging risks.

Against an increasingly complex and interconnected risk landscape, the programme will explore
how Europe can build the capabilities needed to anticipate, prevent, prepare for and respond to
disasters and crises. Discussions will address artificial intelligence in crisis management, hybrid
and emerging threats, societal resilience and risk communication, critical communications,
drones and counter-drone technologies, and insurance and risk financing. Particular attention will
be given to the role of stakeholder communities, from European to local level, and to translating
research and innovation into operational capabilities through an all-hazards approach.

Through high-level discussions, thematic panels, keynote presentations, project demonstrations,
marketplace and poster sessions, technical visits and networking opportunities, participants will
exchange knowledge, showcase practical solutions and develop new partnerships. The event will
also provide opportunities for young researchers to present their work and examine how inclusive
approaches, including gender considerations in disaster risk reduction, can contribute to a more
resilient Europe.
