Description
The Project FirEUrisk is promoting a series of training events to support the sharing and the inception of the project's results among actors involved in wildfire management. The first training event will provide an overview of the project's new fuel classification system and will be delivered by Elena Aragoneses from the University of Alcalá, Spain.
FirEUrisk aims at harmonizing and upgrading current European strategies by including the socio-economic circumstances that affect the occurrence of extreme wildfires as well as the biophysical conditions, such as vegetation and climate. This mix of perspectives allows a better understanding of how vulnerable communities are to wildfires and which are the best practices to adapt.

The training is intended for graduate and Ph.D. students, researchers, and other actors involved in wildfire risk management. The training will provide attendees with the necessary knowledge and tools to explore the related European fuel map to assess fire risk in Europe.
Data access and tools to analyze the dataset, along with examples of potential usage, will also be presented with a view to helping attendees adapt the FirEUrisk classification system to different spatial scales and different purposes.
The deadline for registrations closes on January 26th.
