KnowEMS | Webinar on Psychosocial Intervention in Emergency Medical Service
Experts from Portugal, Germany, Israel, and Spain will share strategies and models that promote psychological support for victims and professionals.
On May 29 at 16:00 CET, the KnowEMS consortium will host a webinar bringing together experts from Portugal, Germany, Israel, and Spain to discuss the essential role of psychosocial intervention within Emergency Medical Services (EMS). The session aims to share strategies and models that promote psychological support for victims and emergency professionals alike.
Representing Portugal, the National Institute for Medical Emergency (INEM) will be joined by Rita Fatela, from the Psychological Support and Crisis Intervention Center (CAPIC), who will speak on “Psychosocial Intervention in Medical Emergencies,” highlighting the integration of mental health care in pre-hospital settings.
From Germany, Karsten Christoph Lindenstromberg, from Johanniter, will present “Psychological Support for Emergency Personnel,” focusing on strategies to build mental resilience and provide targeted psychological assistance to emergency teams.
Moshe Farchi, from Israel, will offer his perspective with the presentation “The 6 Cs of Psychological First Aid – The Israeli Ministry of Health Model,” a structured framework for immediate psychological support in crisis situations.
Finally, EMT Israel García and Luz Sofía Vilte, from SAMUR, will present the VISEM and VISNNA codes—protocols designed to strengthen psychological support for victims of sexual abuse in emergency contexts.
This webinar represents a unique opportunity for emergency professionals, mental health specialists, and policymakers to exchange knowledge and foster international collaboration in the field of psychological crisis intervention.
