Multi-Hazard Early Warning and Operational Uptake

On 25 September 2026, ARTEMis and MedEWSa will co-host a Policy Roundtable on Multi-Hazard Early Warning, Preparedness and Operational Uptake at the Limassol Municipal University Library, Cyprus. The roundtable is chaired jointly by Nikos Passas (ARTEMis coordinator, CPoPA), Elena Xoplaki (CMCC – ARTEMis, MedEWSa) and Jürg Luterbacher (MedEWSa coordinator).

After an opening session on ARTEMis’s strategic perspectives and MedEWSa’s achievements, two thematic panels structure the day.

The first, From Early Warning to Action, addresses operational needs, impact-based information, decision support and communication.

The second, From Innovation to Operational Uptake, focuses on interoperability, standards, governance and scaling up — the core themes of ARTEMis’s work on harmonised alert and impact-forecast standards for emergency management. The roundtable closes with a session distilling key messages and recommendations for policymakers and practitioners.

The event gives ARTEMis a joint platform with MedEWSa to align on the interoperability and governance priorities central to both projects as they approach their respective conclusions.
