Description

The second workshop organised by the TAMIR project  will take place on 4-5 May in hybrid form, with the physical meeting at Finnish Meteorological Institute in Helsinki, Finland. The event targets experts from European Emergency Response and Civil Protection Agencies and Water Authorities.

It will focus on:

  • Promoting the products and tools for prediction and now casting of hazards and impacts induced by severe weather developed in the TAMIR project;
  • Promoting and enabling hands-on testing of new tools for the prediction and now casting of heavy precipitation, multi-hazards of storms and flooding;
  • Be a platform for networking between end users, providers and developers of the tools and services.

The discussions and feedback gathered during the workshop will be used to assess the final products and to identify the gaps for future developments, in collaboration with TAMIR’s partners and the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM).

What is TAMIR?

The TAMIR project is a European Commission Civil Protection Preparedness project running from February 2020 to May 2022. TAMIR stands for Advanced Tools for pro-Active Management of Impacts and Risks Induced by Convective Weather, Heavy Rain and Flash floods in Europe

The project collaborates with civil protection from UCPM member and participating States and hydro meteorological organisations. It aims to prepare experts and practitioners to cope with bad weather conditions, including heavy rainfall, multi-hazard storms and flooding. TAMIR acts on prevention, preparedness and response to natural hazards and has the objective to mitigate flood disruptive effects on civil society.
