Description
The COLLARIS Network is delighted to invite you to its next webinar, presenting tests and research related to the detection of unexploded ordnance (UXO – e.g., bombs, shells, grenades, or rockets that failed to detonate) with Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS – e.g., drones). UAS can support the remote detection and visual identification of UXO and potentially hazardous materials in collapsed or structurally unstable buildings following armed attacks or explosive incidents. Their use can improve responder safety, threat assessment and decision-making.
After a brief introduction to the COLLARIS Network by its coordinator Anna Kobierzycka (CBK-PAN), the webinar will shine a light on recent tests that were conducted in Sweden (Jonas Fröjmark, Swedish Competence Center of Unmanned Vehicles) and how companies are already implementing UAS technology for threat detection and neutralization (Harshwardhan Zala, Aerobotics7).
The webinar is part of the conference Drones for Emergency Response and Civil Defence taking place in Skövde (Sweden) on May 6 and 7. The conference is organised by the University of Skövde, which, based on its research in civil preparedness, crisis management, cybersecurity and autonomous systems, brings together Swedish stakeholders that use drones within civil defence. Sounds interesting? Check out the latest COLLARIS2 use case (a concise PDF summary) about detecting UXO with UAS. You can find it on the COLLARIS2 project space on the UCPKN platform ('Outputs & Results')
