The medals for long-standing committment to the UCPM may be awarded under two different subcategories. The nominees shall fullfill the following award criteria.
Extraordinary strategic contribution to the UCPM:
- The recipient has undertaken extraordinary meritorious actions and has gained extraordinary achievements in the development of the UCPM at large;
- The recipient demonstrated outstanding results in enhancing preparedness at Member State and EU level to respond to disasters.
Extraordinary operational contribution to the UCPM:
- The recipient has demonstrated an act of outstanding bravery or an activity beyond what might reasonably be expected during a response operation under the UCPM;
- The recipient performed actions demonstrating an exceptional degree of solidarity between MS/PS and/or towards the affected country;
- The recipient has demonstrated particular affiliation to EU values in practice, while performing the required duties;
- The recipient has rescued other deployed staff and/or victims from imminent death or peril;
- The recipient has faced specific noteworthy perils during deployment.
