Introduction

In 2023, the French Association for Disaster Risk Prevention and the Blue Shield France, both non-governmental organisations, created a national working group on Cultural Heritage and Major Risks. Its ambition is to increase the protection of cultural heritage at risk, by building a community, improving knowledge, risk management and preparedness before, during and after extreme events. This article shares the actions undertaken by these non-governmental organisations in raising awareness of risks and promoting a culture of resilience among private owners of cultural heritage, alongside civil protection authorities. In PROCULTHER-NET 2 Project. Technical Bulletin N. 6, November 2025, pp 34 – 43. KEYWORDS: risk awareness, cultural heritage, cross-sectoral cooperation.
