Report

The report analyses how much additional effort countries must commit to in their new Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) for 2025 in order to keep global warming to 1.5°C. It finds that global emissions need to fall by 42% by 2030 and 57% by 2035. Without stronger pledges and immediate action, the world is heading towards 2.6–3.1°C of warming, with severe consequences for people, nature and economies.

The report stresses that a 1.5°C pathway remains technically achievable through rapid expansion of solar and wind energy and the protection of forests. Achieving this requires more ambitious NDCs, coordinated whole-of-government action, enhanced international cooperation, major financial reforms, a significant increase in mitigation investment, and strong leadership from G20 countries.
