Summary

Policy- and decision makers deal with complex, knowledge-demanding challenges for which simple solutions do not exist. Science can and should support them by providing rigorous evidence that enables a better understanding of the problem and assessment of the likely implications of the options available. This type of contribution is able to improve the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of policy making.

This Guidance aims to support Science Europe's Member Organisations to develop their activities on 'Science for Policy', but may also be relevant to research funding and research performing organisations, as well as the broader policy and research communities.
