Within the past two years the Hungarian National Museum (HNM) has been taking a national leading role and working together with universities, humanitarian and law enforcement agencies, and other national, international, and private actors to protect cultural heritage.

To perform this task the HNM established valuable cooperation with different institutions: most importantly the University of Public Service, the Agency for the Protection of National Cultural Heritage and the Police. Raising awareness, initiating interdisciplinary dialogue to fill in the gaps, capacity building, taking part in international response and research projects became emphasised tasks of the HNM.
