Policy brief

This joint UNFCCC TEC–GEO policy brief highlights the importance of scaling up technology and innovation for multi-hazard early warning systems to strengthen climate resilience. It identifies gaps in data access, particularly for LDCs, SIDS, and African countries, and shows that while many NDCs, NAPs, and adaptation communications mention early warning systems, few explicitly integrate technology solutions. The brief recommends investing in multisectoral, fit-for-purpose technologies, leveraging international funding and partnerships, and building local capacity, including citizen scientists and vulnerable groups, to enhance people-centred, risk-informed climate adaptation and early warning systems.
