Report

This report from 2024 warns that adaptation finance is not increasing fast enough to close the growing gap between needs and available funding, limiting progress in climate adaptation planning and implementation. Although international public adaptation finance to developing countries rose to US$28 billion in 2022, this remains far below the estimated annual needs of US$187–359 billion.

The report calls for a stronger global climate finance goal, enhanced adaptation commitments in the 2025 NDCs, and innovative, anticipatory financing approaches. It also emphasises the need for improved capacity building and technology transfer to support effective, long-term and transformational adaptation efforts.
