The 1st VERA Project International Workshop Webinar took place on November 13th and gathered more than 200 experts that followed with great interest the presentations made by VERA's consortium partners. The dialogue established was very fruitful and shows the importance of this project.
The 1st VERA Project International Workshop, held as a webinar on November 13, 2024, brought together over 200 experts who engaged deeply with presentations from VERA's consortium partners. The event fostered productive discussions, underscoring the project's significance in enhancing cross-border cooperation among civil protection agencies. The VERA project, co-funded by the European Commission under the European Civil Protection Mechanism, focuses on assessing vulnerable elements and risks related to wildfires, floods, and industrial accidents, including nuclear incidents.
The workshop highlighted the development of a platform designed to map vulnerable elements, such as population density, and simulate hazard events. This tool aims to identify priority areas for planning and response, thereby improving disaster preparedness and resilience. Additionally, the event explored the integration of the VERA platform with key European projects and tools, including Copernicus and Galileo, to enhance civil protection efforts across borders.
