The Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK) was an associated partner in the INEGMA-E² project, which was co-financed by the EU Commission. The responsible BBK staff supported the consortium with technical expertise. This included experience in the following three areas:
- Evaluation of national strategic civil protection & crisis management exercises
- Political strategic development of the Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM) and the Union Civil Protection Knowledge Network (UCPKN)
- Implementation and evaluation of international strategic civil protection & crisis management exercises
The project was complementary to BBK activities, namely:
- Evaluation of future crises and evaluation methodology for strategic exercises
- Shaping and developing the UCPM and the UCPKN
- International strategic civil protection & crisis management training, in particular staff exercises at the administrative-strategic level
Through the project, the BBK was able to deepen the bilateral and European cooperation with the consortium partners at the working level and to incorporate findings from the project into its own activities. Furthermore, participation in the project enabled the BBK to contribute to the current state of research and to align itself accordingly.
