
Daily Map | UCPM Requests for Assistance 2018 - 2022
The UCPM has significantly grown in European and global importance. This map gives an overview of the requests for assistance over the last 4 years.
Over the last four years, the UCPM has gained an increasingly more important role in the European and global civil protection landscape. From 20 requests for assistance in 2018, the UCPM received 106 requests in 2022. On top of that Ukraine submitted 126 requests for assistance after having activated the mechanism shortly before the start of the Russian invasion.
The nature of the requests for assistance has varied greatly. Between 2020 and 2022, the UCPM received 199 requests for assistance related the COVID-19 pandemic. These requests came from 110 different countries and 3 ECHO partners and were responded to with equipment or repatriation assistance.
Other requests came for assistance during forest fires, conflict, floods, environmental accidents or other natural and man made disasters. Since its inception, the UCPM has received and coordinated response to requests for assistance from six continents.
The Daily Maps, prepared by ECHO, give updates and overviews of significant events or situations on a daily basis. Monitoring events 24/7 and around the globe, the ERCC produces informative geospatial maps as part of its response to disasters.
