The survey aims to showcase children's voices in developing the Children and Youth Declaration for the Road to Resilience. The findings will be presented to relevant stakeholders during the Europe and Central Asia Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in November 2024 in Budva, Montenegro, where UNICEF, UNDRR, DPPI and UN MGCY will be hosting a special event entitled “Road to Resilience: Children and Youth in Action”, which aims to address vulnerabilities associated with age and gender while highlighting the role of children and youth in reducing disaster risk and impacts of climate change. In addition to leveraging the capacities of children and young people as agents of change, the event also seeks to harness their knowledge, creativity, and passion to address policy and technology problems around DRR and climate change adaptation that will be tackled in the EFDRR.
We are kindly seeking your engagement in this important endeavour by answering the survey. The survey will be followed by a series of focus group discussions with children and youth to capture knowledge, attitude and priorities related to DRR and Climate change adaptation, their role in the resilience-building process, identify options for meaningful participation and actions and outline key messages for the Children and Youth Declaration for the Road to Resilience.
The survey link ican be found here online Children and Youth Survey. It is available in 21 languages and will take approximately 15-20 minutes to respond to. The questionnaire includes 25 questions in three parts:
- Understanding Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Climate Crisis
- Recommendations to Governments and Policy Makers
- Addressing Climate Crisis and Disaster Risks.
Please select your preferred language when responding to the survey and follow the instructions for completion. The deadline for responses is 28 July 2024.
We greatly rely upon your participation in the survey as the opinion and participation of youth and children is very important for UNICEF, UNDRR, DPPI, UNMGCY, partners and governments to advocate for children's safety and resilience as well as ensure child and youth engagement in the disaster risk reduction process.
