By Knowledge Network – Staff memberPublished on

The European Commission has adopted the new EU Agenda for Cities and launched the Cities web-portal, a central hub for information on more than 80 EU initiatives supporting cities.

The European Commission has adopted the EU Agenda for Cities, setting a renewed strategic framework to guide EU action in urban areas over the coming years.

As a first step in implementing the Agenda, the Commission has also launched the Cities web-Portal, a comprehensive online platform bringing together information on more than 80 EU initiatives supporting cities. The Portal is designed to help cities of all sizes easily find available funding, tools, and policy guidance tailored to their challenges and objectives.

The 'Safe and Engaged Cities' policy area covers crisis and disaster preparedness, as well as cyber resilience and governance for preparedness. 'Resilient and Decarbonised Cities' covers the area of climate adaptation, such as strategies to address floods, droughts and heat risks.

The Commission invites stakeholders and partners to help disseminate the Agenda and the new Portal across their networks. Preparations are also under way for the third stakeholder workshop, scheduled for January 2026.
