EU ministerial meeting on forest fires
Ministers met to discuss how to build wildfire preparedness and response against the backdrop of the ongoing forest fire season in Europe.
Ministers from member and participating states of the Union Civil Protection Mechanism met on 5 September 2022 to discuss how to reinforce wildfire preparedness and response.
Ministers assessed how to step-up prevention, preparedness, and response capacities both at national level and within the framework of the Mechanism. The meeting follows a summer of unprecedented rising temperatures, repetitive heat waves and prolonged periods of drought, with forest fires and the related risk in the EU increasing in scope, frequency, and intensity.
