
EU Mission: Adaptation to Climate Change new work programme with DRM focus
The latest draft of the Mission work programme has been published, outlining a direction for the Mission in the coming years.
The Horizon Europe EU Mission: Adaptation to Climate Change focuses on supporting EU regions, cities and local authorities in their efforts to build resilience against the impacts of climate change. Through dedicated calls for proposals, the mission supports regions to:
The Commission has published the latest draft of the upcoming work programme 2026 - 2027 of the Mission. In this draft, there will be a dedicated topic to bring together two complimentary communities: disaster risk management and climate adaptation. Topic “HORIZON-MISS-2026-01-CLIMA-04: Bridging the gap between disaster risk management and climate adaptation” will open for proposals in early 2026 and support the implementation of the Preparedness Union Strategy as well and the upcoming European Climate Adaptation Plan and the Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change.
The project funded under this action will contribute to bringing together and developing transdisciplinary approaches for the DRM and climate adaptation communities as well as enhancing knowledge and understanding of aspects common to both communities including aspects such as responsibility and accountability. These objectives should be fulfilled by the several actions under the project, such as:
A preliminary draft of the upcoming Horizon Europe EU Mission: Adaptation to Climate Change work programme for 2026 and 2027 has recently been published on the Commission Comitology Register. For the full description of the topic see the preliminary draft here. Please note that changes may still be made in the final version of the work programme. This draft provides information on the direction of travel for the Mission in the upcoming years.
Likewise, the draft work programmes of other Horizon Europe Clusters have also been preliminarily published. The final version of the work programme will be adopted later this year and opened for proposals in the beginning of 2026. An exciting opportunity to bring our two communities together!
