By project EUMA staffPublished on

EUMA recently took part in the European Civil Protection Forum held in Brussels. This important event served as a valuable platform for engaging with a diverse community of professionals in civil protection and disaster risk management. At the Annual CERIS Event, EUMA seized the opportunity to participate in a panel discussion on enhancing synergy among DRR research and capacity-building projects.

Booth at the European Civil Protection Forum

Following a successful stakeholder kick-off at the partner university in Bonn on June 3rd, project coordinators Annika Fröwis and Sophia Sternath from UNIVIE, alongside esteemed scientific advisory board member Peter Billing, participated in the European Civil Protection Forum on June 4th and 5th in Brussels. The forum served as an excellent platform for exchanging ideas and insights on the future of disaster risk management education.

At the CP Village, the EUMA Project's objectives and achievements were showcased, and the constructive feedback received is expected to play a major role in shaping the project's future. The ongoing collaborations initiated at this forum are anticipated to have a positive impact on the crucial field of disaster risk management.

Annual CERIS Event

Project coordinator Annika Fröwis from UNIVIE presented the EUMA Project at this year's annual CERIS event, held from June 5th to 7th in Brussels. The panel session on "Synergy-Building among DRR Research and Capacity-Building Projects" was moderated by Cees van Westen from the University of Twente, a partner university of EUMA.

The discussion focused on fostering synergies among various disaster risk reduction (DRR) research and capacity-building initiatives. Panelists shared detailed insights into their respective projects, emphasizing the essential role of collaboration and knowledge sharing in enhancing disaster resilience across Europe.
