The fifth EU MODEX for Lot 3 will take place between 3-6 October 2023 in Montana, Bulgaria. Lot 3 exercises are dedicated to Urban Search and Rescue modules (USAR) and other response capacities. The aim of the exercise is to provide USAR modules with an opportunity to test and practice their preparedness in the context of a full-scale field exercise, simulating a deployment to a EU Member states.
The Exercise Planning Meeting (EPM) for the EU MODEX in Bulgaria took place on 18 and 19 July 2023. The EPM is part of the preparation phase for a EU MODEX and it is used by the exercise control (EXCON) to visit the exercise sites as well as to discuss open points with the venue management - in this case the venue management is the Bulgarian Fire Safety and Civil Protection Directorate General.
The EPM is a necessary step for being able to provide the best possible experience during this participant-driven USAR (Urban Search and Rescue) exercise, which will take place between 3 and 6 October 2023.
The participating MUSAR capacities (Medium USAR) from Austria, Greece, Hungary and Turkey can look forward to challenging exercise venues, some of which are completely newly build. Additionally, a part of this EU MODEX will also be the INSARAG reclassification of the MUSAR capacity from Hungary.
