The FORMATEX23 consortium is getting closer to the final preparation stages leading up to the full scale exercise taking place in Linz on 14-16 September. During two days for fruitful discussions and site visits, the FORMATEX23 project consortium and its partners had the chance to fine tune several aspects concerning each module's participation in the exercise.
FORMATEX23 aims to improve capabilities of agencies, emergency services and the Union Civil Protection Mechanism in preparedness for and response to Natech disasters. It focuses on emergency response and management during complex multi hazard events with a focus on CBRN hazards and environmental pollution
The FORMATEX23 full scale exercise will be conducted in different locations around the Linz Industrial District. The different settings include the container port Enns, the Linz Airport, oil storage facilities and industrial plants along the Danube river. During the MPC, Dr. Hannes Kern from IRIS presented the different scenarios and participants had the opportunity to visit the training grounds that will host the full scale exercise in September.
During the three-days conference, the project consortium welcomed the participation from the FORMATEX23 Project Officer from DG ECHO as well as from ADir. Christian Krol, Senior Civil Servant, Head of Directorate General for Public Security, Unit for Crisis Management, Disaster Relief and Civil Protection at the Austrian Ministry of Interior.
