Have your say: EU’s Next long-term budget and civil protection funding
The European Commission has opened a public consultation on the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF), the EU’s long-term budget.
This consultation, open til 6 May 2025, invites feedback on EU funding for civil protection, crisis preparedness, and response (along with other areas), ensuring that future investments align with European priorities.
Why is the EU consulting?
With the current EU budget running until 2027, the European Commission is preparing for the next funding period, starting in 2028. This new MFF will shape how EU funds support key areas like cohesion, agriculture, home affairs, and civil protection, with a focus on improving crisis response, preparedness, and coordination.
The consultation is open to EU institutions, national, regional, and local authorities, as well as recipients of EU funding. SMEs, business associations, citizens, civil society organisations, academia, think tanks, media, and international stakeholders are also encouraged to take part.

Following President von der Leyen’s Political Guidelines for 2024-2029, the Commission aims to make the budget simpler, more focused, and more effective. This consultation invites input on how to improve EU funding and ensure resources have the greatest impact.
Your feedback will help shape the Commission’s proposals, expected in 2025. Have your say and contribute to the future of EU crisis preparedness and response.
