Inclusive Resilience: UNDRR Highlights EDF's READY Baltics Project

By project READY BALTICS staffPublished on

EDF's work on disability-inclusive disaster risk reduction is gaining vital traction. At a recent regional forum, the UNDRR highlighted our READY Baltics project. Mari Tuulik from the Estonian Forum of People with Disabilities joined the session "From Vulnerability to Active Citizenship," speaking on our regional initiative to strengthen inclusive civil protection across the Baltic States.

Inclusive resilience: bringing the right voices to the table: UNDRR Highlights EDF’s READY Baltics Project at Regional Forum

We are thrilled to see our work on disability-inclusive disaster risk reduction gaining vital traction on the international stage. At a recent regional forum, the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) actively linked its initiatives to our ongoing efforts in the Baltic States.

Representing our community, Mari Tuulik from the Estonian Forum of People with Disabilities joined the session "From Vulnerability to Active Citizenship: Fostering Inclusive Decision-Making Towards Just Adaptation." Mari participated as a speaker through EDF’s READY Baltics project—our regional initiative dedicated to strengthening disability-inclusive civil protection and disaster risk reduction across Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

Scaling Up Impact Through Partnership

Through our established partnership with UNDRR, we are set to take this work a step further. Over the coming months, UNDRR will support the rollout of the MCR2030 Disaster Resilience Scorecard Annex for the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities across all three Baltic countries. This collaboration will provide a structured framework for cities to assess and actively strengthen their disability-inclusive resilience planning.

Reflecting on our project kick-off meeting held here in Brussels this past April, Mari beautifully captured the core philosophy driving our regional efforts:

"Meaningful inclusion starts with getting the right people to the table."

We look forward to continuing our close collaboration with UNDRR and our Baltic partners to ensure that disaster risk reduction leaves no one behind.
