IV Seminar on Operational Oceanography, Remote Sensing and SAR

Salvamento MarĂtimo (Sasemar), the Spanish Maritime Safety and Rescue Society, organized the IV Seminar on Operational Oceanography, Remote Sensing and SAR on November 27th and 28 th in Madrid.

The issues addressed at this seminar covered a wide range of developments and applications in ocean observation and forecasting, as well as radar and satellite technology. They included innovations in the detection and monitoring of marine phenomena, the development of operational models to predict ocean and coastal conditions, and the implementation of new tools and methodologies to improve the accuracy and efficiency of the data collected.

The meeting was attended by 35 experts, including competent authorities, service providers, oceanographers and software and equipment designers. Representatives of INTECMAR presented the COPTool system, developed in the MANIFETS project and upgraded in the MANIFETS-Genius project.

COPTool is a system for the management of information during a marine contingency between the different actors involved, regardless of whether the information comes from one or more institutions. The target audience of this tool is those agencies that manage and distribute information during an emergency due to accidental marine pollution.
